In October 2015, CHENG WEIZHI and the artist Dong Shih-hang set out from Douliu for Osaka — his first exhibition abroad. The old railways, abandoned warehouses and buildings along the way echoed the Xiluo landscapes he had long been drawing.

Above the clouds, the view reminded him of Fritz Leiber’s science fiction story “A Pail of Air” — a world where the air has frozen into snow.

2015 年 10 月，程威誌與藝術家董十行自斗六出發前往大阪，這是他第一次出國參展。南下沿途的老鐵道、廢棄倉庫與建築，與他長期描繪的西螺景觀相互呼應。

飛越雲層時，窗外的雲海讓他聯想到 Fritz Leiber 的科幻短篇《A Pail of Air》——一個空氣凍結成雪的世界。

In Osaka, CHENG WEIZHI photographed stations, shopping streets and signboards. Orderly stations and late-night streets with few people and no scooters stood in contrast to the density and texture of Taiwanese towns.

抵達大阪後，程威誌以相機記錄車站、商店街與招牌等城市細節。整潔有序的車站、深夜少有行人與機車的街道，與台灣城鎮的密度與生活感形成對照。

The fair took place at Osaka Central Public Hall; CHENG WEIZHI showed at booth N15.

Beyond materials and drawing time, visitors asked about the Japanese text in the images, the 1920s Kansai clothing, the floating fish, and the choice of high contrast and fish-eye perspective. Through an interpreter, he shared the Xiluo stories behind the work: old buildings, migration memories, the town’s rise and decline, and the lives of its workers.

展會於大阪中央公會堂舉行，程威誌的攤位為 N15。

觀眾除了詢問材料與繪製時間，也關注畫面中的日文字、1920 年代的關西服裝、漂浮的魚，以及高對比與魚眼透視的選擇。透過現場翻譯，他向觀眾說明作品背後的西螺故事：老建築、移民記憶、地方的興衰與勞動者的生活。

During the fair, CHENG WEIZHI was invited to a special live-drawing session with the Japanese artist Chiaki Kohara.

展期間，程威誌受邀參與特別活動，與日本藝術家 Chiaki Kohara 進行現場繪製。

The series was later shown with G.Gallery at Art Kaohsiung, in exhibition rooms set up in hotel suites.
