FUGITIVE is a science-fiction short conceived, written and directed by BILLAIN, set in Sarajevo three hundred years from now. He calls it the first film of the "cyberneuro" genre, joining his music, visuals and storytelling. Three hundred years from now, Sarajevo has become Neosarayevo, a megacity built on the soil of Sarajevo and apparently controlled by the corporation Sodyn. BILLAIN describes it as a distant, dystopian image of our society.
One of the team's biggest challenges was keeping Sarajevo recognisable, so that today's city can still be found inside the future one. Runtime 34 minutes.

It started on Sarajevo's walls
Around 1999–2000, BILLAIN and his friends founded the Sarajevo graffiti crew "STF – Save The Future", and their murals have carried futuristic narratives ever since. FUGITIVE grew out of that late-1990s "Save The Future" concept.
He describes himself as a rebel who decided to mix Sarajevo into something new, at any cost. Watching history being erased every hundred years, he is fascinated by what it means to keep your own memories in such a place.

Between human and artificial
BILLAIN says the film explores "the thin line between being human and artificial", and that the key between the two lies in memory: memories define time, and time defines memories.
When the first teaser came out, he asked: we can no longer escape technology, but can technology escape time? In his world, only memories remain as humanity's last witness.

A musician's way of telling stories
BILLAIN is a well-known drum & bass artist. "I realised even in drum & bass I was a storyteller," he says; he always wanted to show how many stories he holds beneath the layers of channels in his neurofunk tracks.
The film is also his master's thesis, defining "cyberneuro" as a realm that connects music, visuals and film narrative. FUGITIVE is the first film scored entirely in FL Studio.

從塞拉耶佛的塗鴉牆開始
1999 至 2000 年間，BILLAIN 和朋友在塞拉耶佛成立塗鴉團體「STF — Save The Future」，從那時起，他們的壁畫就帶著未來的敘事。FUGITIVE 的構想正是從這個 1990 年代末的「Save The Future」概念而來。
他形容自己是「決心不計代價，把塞拉耶佛混合成新事物的叛逆者」。看著歷史每一百年就被抹去一次，他著迷於一個問題：在這樣的地方，擁有自己的記憶代表什麼。

記憶與人工之間
BILLAIN 說，這部片探索「身為人類與人工之間的那條細線」，而連結兩者的關鍵是記憶：記憶定義時間，時間也定義記憶。
第一支預告發表時，他問：我們已經逃不開科技，但科技能逃離時間嗎？在他的設定裡，最後只剩記憶，成為人類最後的見證。

音樂人的敘事
BILLAIN 是知名的 drum & bass 音樂人。他說，做這部片讓他發現，即使在 drum & bass 裡，自己也一直是個說故事的人；他一直想讓人看見，neurofunk 音軌一層層聲道底下藏著多少故事。
這部片也是他的碩士論文，用來定義「cyberneuro」：一個連結音樂、影像與電影敘事的領域。FUGITIVE 是第一部完全以 FL Studio 完成配樂的電影。

BILLAIN and CHENG WEIZHI met on Facebook; it all began online. They don't share a language, and half of the film came from "exchanging images as language and using Google translator for three years". Unable to meet during the pandemic, the team held its meetings over Skype and Discord, and at times gaps in translation sent the animation in different directions.
Cheng wrote that language was never the main problem: beauty doesn't always need words, and sometimes you just have to make it.
Cheng handled animation, physics, rendering, environment design and part of the character design, which is how Taiwanese culture and architecture came to stand beside Sarajevo's landmarks in the same future city.

BILLAIN 與程威誌在臉書上認識，一切從網路開始。兩人語言不通，片子有一半是他們「以圖像作為語言、用 Google 翻譯交流三年」的成果。疫情期間無法見面，團隊透過 Skype 與 Discord 開會，也曾因翻譯落差讓動畫方向走偏。
程威誌寫道，語言溝通並不是主要問題，因為美感不一定要透過語言來闡述，有時候只需要把它做出來。
程威誌負責動畫、物理、渲染、場景設計與部分角色設計，片中因此出現臺灣的文化與建築元素，和塞拉耶佛的地標並置在同一座未來城市裡。
